Health & Safety

Your safety, comfort, and well-being are central to every journey we offer. Our safaris are thoughtfully planned and led by experienced professionals, allowing you to relax and fully enjoy the experience while we take care of the details.

All activities are led by experienced, qualified guides who are trained to operate safely in wilderness environments. Our guides have in-depth local knowledge and follow strict protocols when it comes to wildlife encounters, driving, and guest safety.

We operate with respect for nature, wildlife, and local communities, ensuring every experience is responsible, ethical, and conducted with care.

Guided & Responsible Travel

Our safaris are generally not physically demanding, but guests should be comfortable spending time outdoors and on game drives.

We recommend that guests:

  • Inform us of any medical conditions or dietary requirements in advance.

  • Bring all personal medication required for the duration of the journey.

  • Consult a healthcare professional regarding recommended vaccinations before travel.

Health Considerations

Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended for all guests.

Your policy should cover:

  • Medical emergencies.

  • Trip cancellations or interruptions.

  • Loss or damage to personal belongings.

Travel insurance provides peace of mind and protection for unforeseen circumstances.

Travel Insurance

While every reasonable measure is taken to ensure guest safety, travel in natural environments carries inherent risks.

Guests are responsible for:

  • Following guide instructions at all times.

  • Acting responsibly during activities.

  • Using common sense throughout the journey.

By traveling with CicadaCo, guests acknowledge and accept the nature of safari travel while trusting us to guide them safely throughout their experience

Personal Responsibility

All game drives take place in well-maintained safari vehicles

  • Wildlife is always observed at a safe and respectful distance.

  • Guides may adjust activities based on weather conditions, animal movement, or safety considerations.

  • Guests are required to follow guide instructions at all times.

Your safety will always take priority over rigid schedules.

Safety on Safari

Kruger National Park is located in a low-risk malaria area, with higher risk typically during the warmer, wetter months (generally October to May).

We recommend that guests:

  • Speak with a healthcare provider about malaria prophylaxis prior to travel.

  • Use insect repellent, particularly in the evenings.

  • Wear long sleeves and trousers after sunset as a precaution.

Malaria risk varies seasonally, and we’re always happy to advise based on the time of year you’re traveling.

Malaria Awareness

In the unlikely event of an emergency:

  • Guides are trained in emergency response procedures.

  • Emergency contacts and evacuation options are in place.

  • We work closely with local services to ensure prompt assistance when required.
